Thunder Academy is partnering with Thunder Baseball League to offer Thunder Academy Teams. The objectives for the Thunder Academy Youth teams are threefold:

  1. Consistently compete at the highest level in the state and region.
  2. Instruct and emphasize the life lessons that athletic competition presents for children.
  3. Prepare players to compete at the next level of competition by providing them with a foundation of fundamental skills that allow each child to maximize their natural ability.

The first year we will be offering teams at the 13 year old and 14 year old levels. These teams will offer the highest level of competitiveness from Thunder. They will be trained by coaches that have experience in either college and/or professional baseball. These teams are designed for the players that are looking for a stronger baseball commitment while still holding true to the Thunder Philosophy. The goal of this program is to provide an avenue for motivated players to reach their maximum potential.

Team Details

Professional Coaches - Academy team coaches have experience at either the college level and/or the professional level.

Academy Strength and Agility Training November-January – Players will be expected to complete the off season workouts. There will be a total of 60 strength, agility and arm strengthening workout sessions in November, December and January. Players will be expected to complete some workouts at home and some as a team. A workout program will be provided by the Academy. You will have two days of team workouts during November and December (Attendance is optional until January, work outs are mandatory). January will start the mandatory attendance for the two days per week workouts.

Thunder Academy Membership – A membership to Thunder Academy will allow Academy Teams to hit in the membership area in addition to team practices. Players will have ample opportunity to hit off of new Iron Mike machines as well as Juggs curve ball machine. If you want to become a better player, Thunder Academy will provide the facility for you.

A Hitting Routine – A hitting routine will be provided for players to work on during the months before  team offensive workouts start.

Tournaments – This will be a tournament only team. Players will be expected to attend 1-3 out of state tournaments in addition to in state tournaments during 2013.

Indoor / Outdoor practices– there will be a total of 54 touches or practices during training and the season. Here is the list and types of practices during each month:

  • January-February – 8 indoor practices – total of 16
  • March-June –8 practices per month either inside or outside depending on weather – total of 32
  • July – 6 practices per month either inside or outside depending on weather

Team Cost

[/s2If] [s2If is_user_logged_in()] Player Fees– The fees for each player to participate on a Thunder Team will be $1,800.00 for the season. There will be three payment options to help with budgeting and two credits cards will need to be kept on file.

  • Lump Sum –$1800.00 due on November 1, 2012

  • 6 month plan – $300.00 per month starting October 1, 2012 and ending March 1, 2013
Uniform Fees – Players will be expected to purchase a team uniform package which will cost roughly $300.00 per player which is in addition to the Player Fees. Payment will be due at the time of ordering which will be December 1, 2012.

Uniform Package will include the following:

  • 2 – Jerseys (1 red, 1 white)
  • 2 – Pants
  • 1 – Pair of socks
  • 1 – Hat
  • 1 – Bag (if you have a team bag that matches, you will not be charged for a bag)
  • 1 – Practice Shirt
  • 1 – Practice Shorts
Tournament Fees – Each player will be required to pay $650.00 to cover tournament entry fees. $325.00 will be due on March 1, 2012
and the second payment of $325.00 will be due April 1, 2012.
